  • Roger Dale Beshears, 74, of Clarksville, Arkansas (formerly of Mount Ida, AR) was called home Wednesday May 15, 2019. Roger was born in Mount Ida, AR January 3, 1945 to the late Arthur and Pearl (Counts) Beshears. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nina; their three children, Lorrie Jones (William) of Clarksville, AR, Tina Zoldak of Jacksonville, FL, and Amy Beshears of Clarksville, AR; 4 grandchildren, Trista Carter, Megan Zoldak, Morgan Zoldak and Zachary Zoldak; and 2 great grandchildren, Alyssa and Dakota Black. Roger was the oldest of five children, Ronnie Beshears (Gail) of Oden AR, Shirley Guinn of Mena, AR, Rickey Beshears (Martha) of Oden, AR and Dennis Beshears (deceased).

    Roger was graduate of Oden High School Class of 1963 and long-time employee of Scott Lumber Mill and Mount Ida Shoe Factory. He spent many of his late years as Pastor of Brushy Baptist Church before retiring to Clarksville, AR. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, fellowship with friends, spreading the gospel, picking the guitar, occasional hunting and fishing, and computer games.

    The family invite all friends and family to come celebrate Roger’s life at Brushy Baptist Church Saturday May 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Pastor Tommy Beshears will officiate. Pall bearers-Dakota Black, Andrew Godwin, Alan Godwin, A.W. Godwin, Seth Guinn, and William (Bill) Jones. Graveside service will follow immediately after church service.

    Guests are welcome to stay and visit with family at the church pavilion after services.  Arrangements were made under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, AR. Guest register at www.thorntonfh.com

    Nina I am so sorry for your loss. I always thought you were a wonderful couple. If I still lived in Arkansas I would be there but Houston is just too far. Prayers and positive thoughts coming your way. And much love.
